We currently have an excellent opportunity for a motivated Systems Installer to join our MEI - Technologies team in Fargo. The Systems Installer is responsible for installing security and camera systems, voice, data, sound and audio/visual devices, and distributed antenna/RF infrastructure and related systems equipment. This position follows electrical designs, layouts and building plans to ensure safe and accurate electrical components, equipment and systems are installed according to specifications and in compliance with appropriate codes and regulations. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Performs systems installation from inception to completion to meet customer needs and ensure compliance with current industry practices and Company guidelines, building codes and legal requirements.

  • Creates and maintains positive working relationships with co-workers, customers, project managers, office and field staff and others that reflect and support the Company’s core values and meet or exceed the customer’s expectations.

  • Follows LEAN concepts and methodologies for continuous improvement of systems processes and activities.

  • Collaborates with other installers and project team members during installation of integrated systems.

  • Maintains compliance with all federal, state and local laws and regulations.

  • Develops professional and technical knowledge by complying with requirements of apprenticeship program, attending education workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies relevant to the industry.

  • Supports the mission, vision and values of the Company and works creatively to best support the Company’s long-term goals. Champions and models the Company culture at all times.

  • Installs pathway and support systems for cabling infrastructure.

  • Pulls and installs cable infrastructure and riser systems.

  • Mounts and fastens control panels, door and window contacts, sensors or video cameras and attaches electrical and telephone wiring to accurately connect the components as required.

  • Installs electrical components, equipment and/or systems using hand tools, power tools or other installation equipment.

  • Assists in testing circuits and sensors in accordance with wiring and systems specifications, current industry and Company standards.

  • Consults with field leadership to understand and mitigate jobsite risks.



Education: Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.

Experience: JATC apprenticeship program experience.


Successful candidates will possess;

  • Must be willing to participate in a three (3) year apprenticeship program.

  • Must be able to pass an industry required aptitude test and pre-apprenticeship drug screen. 

  • Entry level to 2 years of industry experience with the installation and trim out of systems related to voice and data infrastructure, camera systems, card access systems, and broadcast, sound and audio/visual systems, or distributed antenna/RF systems.

  • Knowledge and experience with construction and general industry safety standards and procedures.

  • Enthusiasm for expanding knowledge and skills to meet the needs of a dynamic technology office while directly contributing to the success of others.

  • Ability to effectively perform job duties, with proper oversight, in a fast-paced environment with multiple and sometimes changing priorities.

  • Demonstrated strong collaboration, teamwork, customer focus

  • Strong detail orientation.

  • Effective time management, organizational and prioritization skills.

  • Strong listening, written and verbal communication skills.

  • Hold a valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation.


This is a Full-Time Union position that offers an industry leading wage and benefit package according to scale and requires participation in an apprenticeship program.
