Job Summary

Assists with operations for department projects, provides analysis of review team project budgets, and collects data and reports results of key performance indicators as part of ICANN’s performance management system (dashboard progress, metrics, deliverables). Supports MSSI department by proposing and implementing innovative solutions to provide value-added services and by ensuring that groups and teams have the needed understanding and tools to develop professionally and succeed.  Develops and strengthens MSSI Operations to facilitate and support MSSI teams working together seamlessly in a supportive, cohesive and efficient manner, across time-zones.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Assists project managers with all phases of project teams, including coordination of relationships with outside consultants
  • Develops and maintains efficient and effective service delivery, in line with customer expectations (MSSI project teams, cross-functional teams and community groups)
  • Tracks, analyzes and reports achievement of strategic goals assigned to the MSSI team
  • Compiles and analyzes relevant data from cross-functional teams to improve transparency and accountability measures and reporting
  • Participates in competitive bidding process, evaluation and engagement of independent examiners and other contractors, as needed
  • Develops solutions to process and execution issues by using innovative and creative tools
  • Proactively manages relationships with ICANN community leaders of diverse backgrounds, cultures and skill sets to enhance the quality and effectiveness of MSSI Operations, policies and strategies to lead to buy-in by all stakeholders
  • Assists with organizational change management activities arising from lessons learned and continuous process improvements
  • Ensure timely fulfillment of project plans and adherence to approved budget
  • Supports engagement of volunteers and members of ICANN organization to increase understanding and buy-in of MSSI work and mission
  • Ensures timely production of key performance measures
  • Regularly interacts with MSSI team members supporting Reviews and other strategic projects
  • Other duties as assigned or requested

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs): 

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze information and advanced proficiency using appropriate tools, such as Excel (filtering, creating pivot tables, generating reports, etc.) and Salesforce (develop executive-level reporting of progress of projects)
  • Demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines in fast-paced and high-pressure environment
  • Demonstrated ability to determine and manage the execution of objectives, strategy, and approaches to critical technical designs/assignments, with finite/limited resources and limited oversight
  • Demonstrated ability to succeed in complex, culturally diverse and political environments
  • Proven ability to inform and influence others through impactful presentations and writings
  • Must have excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work with a diverse workforce and community, in a highly visible environment where every word is recorded and shared with the community
  • Ability to influence a diverse, distributed cross-functional ICANN staff and external experts
  • Commitment to organizational principles of accountability and transparency
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office, wiki, Zoom, Slack, and other collaboration tools, with a particular emphasis on a demonstrated ability to analyze information and advanced proficiency using appropriate tools, such as Excel (filtering, creating pivot tables, generating reports, etc.) and Salesforce (development of executive-level reporting of progress of projects)
  • Highly tuned political, diplomatic and social skills; high degree of emotional intelligence
  • Proven ability to manage high-performing teams to meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to make significant decisions with limited oversight, and drive best practices and solutions
  • Proven ability to prepare clear and concise reports, analyses and presentations

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in professional services, operations, and/or project management environment
  • Minimum two (2) years of project/program manager or operations experience
  • Experience in domain name/internet protocol industry or related industry suggested
