Position Summary:

Ensure excellent NomCom Support for NomCom Chair and other NomCom Committee members, the Director will work effectively and efficiently to manage the various aspects of NomCom content coordination and information flow; to research in the design of training & capacity development programs, develop and lead the implementation of strategic NomCom programs/projects.

 

This role interfaces at a senior-level with General Counsel/Secretary and other ICANN Org teams when required.

This is a strategic and solutions-oriented role requiring extensive collaborative and innovative

leadership.

 

Key Responsibilities;

Lead Contact to NomCom Committee for all NomCom support services:

  • Be the lead contact of NomCom Chair and other NomCom committee members for NomCom support services.

  • Collaborates with NomCom support Team, General Counsel/Secretary, and other organization teams to ensure alignment and deliveries when required.

  • Seeks, recommends and implements improvements for effectiveness and efficiencies of this service model.

Committee Content Coordination & Information-Flow:

  • Owns the clear, concise and accurate records of action items for the full NomCom sessions, NomCom Sub-committees and NomCom Leadership

  • Drives efficient systems and internal processes of tracking action items to ensure proper/timely action completion.

  • Facilitates agenda planning, and with NomCom actions of previous sessions to ensure continuity of NomCom activities, and· discussions.

  • Ensures NomCom content postings on ICANN.org are accurate and timely.

 

Committee Training and Capacity Development:

  • Collaborates with NomCom Chair to research and draft NomCom training & capacity development plan per the agreed directions.

  • Develops and leads the implementation of NomCom training & capacity development programs.

  • Collaborates with NomCom members and NomCom Leadership to finalize the program content, then manages delivery, analyzes and reports on the program effectiveness, and derives improvements.

  • Helps ensure the alignment of NomCom training & capacity development programs with NomCom's goals & responsibilities.

  • Manages Committee training & development budget.

 

NomCom with Community:

  • Manages the support process of Committee's engagement with the ICANN community and relevant Committee functions.

  • Supports Committee members' participation in community-wide efforts, such as preparing for the call for nominations and nomination review cycle (typically January - July)

 

NomCom Support Staff Teamwork:

  • Responsible for the NomCom Support section of Accountability Indicators to be effectively depicting the Committee's progress towards strategic goals to further transparency to the community.

  • Manages the support for the other NomCom Support team members to enable time-zone efficiencies and during meetings / events.

  • Leads and collaborates with NomCom Support team on strategic and advancement projects, such as NomCom Support team process improvements, etc.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

 

  • Bachelor 's degree or master’s degree preferred or a minimum of 10 years of experience in related fields and international organizations, and with progressive advancements

  • Would consider experience with an international search firm and/or skill in project management, and human resource management processes or certification, a plus

  • Ability to work across multiple cultures, languages, and time-zones.

  • Seasoned experience and high-level knowledge in communication, professionalism, good judgment and diplomatic polish required for this demanding, high-profile role working directly with the leaders of ICANN, NomCom and the ICANN community

  • Highly developed professional and diplomatic communication (verbal & written) skills in the international, Board and political arenas

  • Sound knowledge or ability to quickly apply, institutional policies, and operational processes and procedures

  • Demonstrated skills at handling complex and process-related work in global and multi-cultural organizations

  • High emotional intelligence in managing staff, being the lead contact with the NomCom, and collaborating with NomCom Support team and organizational liaison to NomCom.

  • Demonstration of cultural sensitivity, and strong adherence to and support of ICANN's policies.

  • Solid understanding or ability to quickly learn the Internet and the Domain Name System and the ICANN ecosystem as well as its Multi-stakeholder model

  • Mastery of Microsoft Office tools and Google Apps (G Suite) account, along with other tools as required by ICANN org

  • Ability to work with and manage the work of people of diverse backgrounds and cultures

  • Ability to travel globally and frequently.

  • Fluency in English with multi-lingual skills beneficial.
