Position Summary:

The Global HR Business Partner functions as an HR generalist, provides consultative advice and strategic thought partnership to the organization’s leadership and facilitates organizational effectiveness initiatives within multiple client groups. The HRBP in partnership with the global HR team administers solutions in areas including, but not limited to, performance management, career planning, development & coaching, workforce planning, policy interpretation, process improvement, and change implementation. This position is also responsible for creating robust strategic partnerships with various global departments and leveraging cross functional teams including Finance, Legal and HR to drive solution based responses to client needs.

Key Responsibilities:                                                                                                            

  •     Collaborate with the HR team and departments (client groups) to understand global organizational needs
  •     Build and sustain strong relationships with client groups. Partner with clients to develop first-hand knowledge of the organization as well as short and long-term business goals and objectives
  •     Establish deep partnership with all members of the Global HR team to ensure best service is delivered to clients
  •     Act as a generalist to assigned global clients on all areas of Human Resources support and act as a liaison between the organization and the HR team
  •     Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal, state or local country requirements; conducting investigations; maintaining records
  •     Anticipate client’s organizational needs and collaborate with the global HR team to develop and sustain a proactive HR support model
  •     Ensure ICANN’s organizational objectives are aligned with the various aspects of people management for each client group
  •     Assist with the analysis, development, and implementation of integrated HR solutions, cross functional projects and process improvement initiatives that support the clients' global strategic objectives and operating plan while meeting deadlines
  •     Create focused organizational development (OD) plans including workforce planning, talent management, performance management and succession planning
  •     Diagnose organizational health challenges, provide coaching and design as well as facilitate OD interventions that enhance leadership/team/staff and organizational effectiveness
  •     Facilitate staff learning and development programs for client groups and across the organization as needed
  •     Exhibit strong team leadership and project management skills to enable agreed upon solutions to be successful
  •     Manage relationships with vendors who provide support to OD initiatives within assigned client groups. This may include interfacing with executive coaches, external facilitators or assessment vendors to ensure that clients are receiving the most effective services while achieving competitive pricing and strategic consistency

Required Experience:

  • Advanced degree (preferred) in HR, organizational development, psychology, sociology, business administration, education, or related area
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee relations, diversity, performance management, Global, US federal and state employment laws.
    • A minimum of:
      • 8 years of experience in employee relations as an HR generalist/manager/business partner
      • A Bachelor’s degree in HR, organizational development, psychology, sociology, business administration, education, or related area
      • Demonstrates high level of integrity and ethical behavior
      • Excellent communication skills both written and oral

Required Skills:

  •     HR certifications such as SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP Certification
  •     Proven exceptional relationship building and communication skills, especially when interacting with Senior Leadership
  •     Strong desire for understanding how ICANN and the related world of the internet works
  •     Demonstrated ability to drive change and influence the adoption of new ideas
  •     Strong understanding of adult learning principles with an emphasis on use of technology and new media to deliver development programs
  •     Strong project planning, project management, project integration skills and vendor relationship management skills
  •     Able to think strategically and act autonomously to make sound, data-based business decisions
  •     Ability to exhibit a “can do” attitude while focusing on the greater good of the team, organization and community
  •     Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment where work can be non-routine and complex
  •     Excellent consulting, coaching  and influencing skills
  •     Ability to establish trust and rapport with key stakeholders, identify underlying needs, and develop sustainable solutions
  •     Knowledge of HR policies and procedures

  •     Ability to work across domestic and international geographic locations
  •     Able to design team and organization effectiveness interventions that address identified business needs
  •     Must be able to use a computer with a high degree of proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
