The Lead Security, Stability & Resiliency (SSR) Specialist will work in close coordination with other ICANN organization functions to implement ICANN’s Security, Stability and Resiliency strategies. This position will include representing ICANN on matters relating to the SSR of the Internet’s system of unique identifiers within ICANN’s remit as well as helping to develop positions and produce materials related to the administration of those identifiers from an SSR perspective.
Support the ICANN Office of the CTO Security Stability and Resiliency team objectives and priorities.
Represent ICANN at SSR related events.
Support the organization’s technical work, including internal coordination and external partnerships.
Engage in local, regional, and international technical and/or security-related dialogues, including those developing strategy to address issues affecting the organization and the Internet’s system of unique identifiers.
Perform studies and produce white papers on issues relating to SSR.
Ensure the successful completion of SSR related projects by leading teams and attaining project milestones. Identify and take actions related to public policy influences, political issues, and trends that impact the organizations work.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
The ideal candidate should demonstrate evidence of competencies in the following areas:
A thorough understanding of the Internet’s Identifiers and related technologies and how those identifiers are used and abuse.
Demonstrated experience working in or with incident response communities
Highly motivated, self-driven, and works well in a team environment.
Resourceful and able to adapt to a constantly changing technical environment.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Fluency in English and preferably in at least one other language.
Willingness and ability to travel Internationally.
Education and Experience Requirements:
BA or BS in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
Minimum 10 years of experience in working with Internet Identifier systems.
Demonstrated multiple years of experience in training and educating.
Demonstrated ability to lead discussions on complex issues pertinent to the Security, Stability, and Resiliency of the Internet’s Identifier Systems.
Demonstrated track record of operating in trusted environments and ability to handle information with the appropriate levels of confidentiality.
Experience working cross-functionally and building collaborative working relationships.
High degree of cultural and political sensitivity and a demonstrated ability to successfully conduct negotiations in complex cultural/political environments.
