We are currently seeking an Associate for our Mechanical Engineering Practice in our Menlo Park, CA office.  In this role, you will work as part of a team to perform engineering and scientific analysis and synthesis to assist Exponent’s clients in the energy industry. Projects typically involve failure analysis of mechanical and subsurface systems involved in the exploration and production of hydrocarbon resources and water, minerals extraction and mining.

You will be responsible for: 

  • Engineering and scientific analysis
  • Computational modeling and simulations
  • Synthesis of results and communicating with clients
  • Development of written reports and presentations

You will have the following skills and qualifications: 

  • Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Materials Science, or Geomechanics
  • Knowledge in computational solid and fluid mechanics
  • Experience with data analysis and synthesis
  • Experience in well design, geomechanics, or reservoir engineering
  • Experience in performing finite element analysis and/or scripting (Abaqus, Ansys, Hyperworks, Matlab, Python etc.)
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
