Director of Technical Accounting

The Director of Technical Accounting will take direction from the V.P. Corporate Controller. The candidate will be involved with technical accounting analysis projects, audit interface, revenue recognition, and lease/equity/debt accounting as well as stock administration functions.  Responsibilities of the Director of Technical Accounting include guiding, managing and assisting to resolve complex accounting issues.  The position is responsible for all external reporting.


  • Add technical expertise through complex transactions including M&A, etc.
  • Performing, managing and reviewing the preparations of SEC filings (including 10-Q, 10-K, Proxy, S-1 and S-3) to facilitate in-depth internal/external review and ensure accuracy and timeliness in financial reporting.
  • Earnings releases, earnings scripts and financial data for road shows.
  • Perform quarterly technical review of cash flow statement required by ASC 230.
  • Review of tax provision calculations and tax returns prepared by the accounting firm

Managing the following:

  • Stock administration
  • Identification and application of technical accounting guidance
  • Apply knowledge and understanding of governing principles
  • Identify, analyze and conclude on the U.S. generally accepted accounting principles
  • Equity – stock compensation (e.g. FAS 123(R) and warrant accounting) and EPS calculation
  • Assist Legal with the preparation of the Annual Meeting materials and proxy statements
  • Preparation of technical accounting position memos
  • Disclosure Committee meetings
  • Review complex financial statements and related disclosure requirements
  • Global accounting activities including foreign currency and consolidations

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Ability to work well with others, collaborative approach
  • 10-15 years of public accounting and industry experience required (minimum of 5 years in Big 4 public accounting)
  • Three or more years of prior managerial experience
  • Proven ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent required
  • Active CPA license is required
  • Working experience of using SEC filing software application (e.g. Workiva)
  • Ability to manage teams and own their work product
  • Hard working, detail oriented and ability to motivate teammates 
  • Professional and personable demeanor
  • Proven solid verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge of US GAAP
  • Experience and familiarity with technology industries preferred
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite with strong Excel skills
  • Proficient experience in using Oracle, SAP or other comparable ERPs

Travel: Ability to travel up to 10%
