Medical Review Clinician Assistant

We are currently seeking an experienced Medical Review Clinician Assistant with behavioral health or pharmacy utilization management experience to join our clinical operations team, based out of our office in downtown Portland, Oregon.

  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Preparing clinical documentation for case review by our peer reviewer panel of physicians, nurses, other qualified clinicians, and medical coders 
  • Securing peer reviewers for case review and ensuring timely completion 
  • Providing quality assurance on reviews by checking consistency, grammar and formatting, and adherence to client requirements and policy language 
  • Problem solving issues related to quality, timeliness and accuracy of medical reviews with clients and peer reviewers under the direction of operational leadership 
  • Maintaining high standards of productivity and quality in a fast-paced environment 

  

Knowledge, Experience, Skills, and Abilities

  • Associate or bachelor's degree preferred 
  • Must have medically related certification in one of the following areas: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Certified Behavioral Health Technician (CBHT) Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Certified Pharmacy Technician (CphT), Paramedic or similar program 
  • Experience with Utilization Management, Prior Authorization, or Case Management in a Behavioral Health or Pharmacy setting is highly preferred 
  • Must have at least 2 years’ experience in a fast-paced case review or clinical operations setting, and possess knowledge of clinical terminology and standards 
  • At least 1 year of in an office setting is highly preferred 
  • Excellent clinical writing and documentation skills
  • A consistent customer service focus
  • Computer literacy with demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office and web-based workflow applications 
  • Professionalism in written and verbal communications 
  • Ability to accurately type at least 35 words per minute 
  • Attention to detail; critical eye to catch mistakes and formatting errors; ability to proof documents sent to referring entities
