WSP  is currently seeking a motivated Municipal Engineering Manager in our Calgary Infrastructure team. The successful candidate should have a minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in municipal engineering, including project management, engineering design, utility master planning, and asset management planning of municipal water, wastewater and stormwater utilities. The successful individual will be expected to take a leadership role of an established municipal group.


  • Take a leadership role in the expansion of business opportunities and execution of complex municipal infrastructure projects;
  • Manage and deliver complex infrastructure design and asset management solutions to customers - this includes report and proposal writing, business development, client liaison, and project management;
  • Build, lead, and manage multidisciplinary project teams focused on client specified requirements - projects may include planning, engineering design, construction, and financial management deliverables;
  • Lead, develop and empower a diverse group of professionals and technical support staff; and 
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Degree in Engineering with 15+ years of consulting, municipal or utility service experience ;
  • 5+ years of managing and mentoring technical staff ;
  • Professional engineer or eligibility for registration with APEGA is required;
  • Ability to work independently ;
  • Ability to mentor junior staff;
  • Previous success in customer service, client management and proposal/report writing;
  • Strong knowledge of the City of Calgary and surrounding regional municipal clients;
  • Experience and training in Project Management;
  • Municipal engineering design and construction experience is essential with specific experience related to water, sanitary, and stormwater projects involving both renewal and replacement and new capital works projects including water and sewerage pumping stations and general civil works ;
  • Design and construction experience in potable water, sewage and drainage pumping stations is also desirable and would be a definite asset;
  • Municipal planning/modelling experience on potable water, sewage and drainage systems is also desirable and would be a definite asset; and
  • Strong communication (written and verbal), interpersonal and teamwork skills. Technical writing skills needed to support development of technical reports, tools, support documents, and training materials .
