CALGARY, EDMONTON OR VANCOUVER

 

 

WSP is seeking Design Engineers to join our Rail & Transit Team in Calgary, Edmonton or Vancouver. You will work collaboratively with a team of Engineers and Specialists to build detailed design and drawing packages with a strong focus on Cable Containment Design for various light rail and freight rail projects. As a member of the Rail & Transit team, you will be given opportunities to apply your education and experience on large, complex projects. You will be challenged to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines. You will gain knowledge through mentorship and skills development as you fast-track your professional development to become a strong Rail Specialist..

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Civil design of underground electrical conduit/ductbank infrastructure using Civil 3D

  • Detail design for construction drawings

  • Develop plan, elevation and profile drawings;

  • Coordinate with other design disciplines for clash and conflict resolution

  • CAD responsibilities:

    • Develop pipe networks, pipe libraries, custom structures

    • Utilizing data shortcuts and external references

    • Layering standards

    • Profile and section styling

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineer/EIT

  • 2-5 years of relevant experience for Junior positions, 5-9 years for Intermediate

  • 3D design & BIM modelling a plus

  • Background in outside plant design, a plus

  • Experience with low, medium and/or high voltage cable designs a plus

  • Railway Systems, Communication and Signalling knowledge a plus

  • Roadway utility design knowledge also acceptable, railway preferred

  • Transit railway experience a plus

  • Underground utility experience a plus

  • Familiarity with CSA 22.1 and 22.3 No.7 a plus
