CALGARY

WSP Geomatics is currently seeking a national Director, Business Development to lead and grow sales for our Geomatics business line. Located in Calgary is preferred, with potential travel throughout Canada. Candidates located in Edmonton or Toronto would also be considered.

The successful individual will be accountable for sales growth and increasing our market position, both internally with WSP’s other divisions, and with external clients. This individual will also be responsible for creating business development strategies, executing those strategies in collaboration with operational leaders, and coordinating and aligning efforts between proposals and business development. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrable track record of successful experience in client relationship management; new client sourcing and existing account maintenance.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct client and market research and develop business development strategies and targeted account plans that optimize win success and use of cross-team resources and drive achievement of regional and corporate budget targets;
  • Lead a team comprised of business development and marketing professionals;
  • Create, align and implement marketing plans, goals, objectives and budgets;
  • Lead, plan and execute approved communication and marketing campaigns;
  • Build and manage a strong opportunity pipeline by:
    • Creating new business relationships through prospecting that results in an increase of sales within the Oil & Gas, Transportation, Infrastructure, Mining, Industrial, Power, Land Development, and Building sectors focusing on Provincial / Territorial / Federal agencies, major clients, contractors, and engineering companies;
    • Developing strong relationships with other WSP business lines, to build and increase collaborative sales;
    • Maintaining and strengthening relationships with existing clients to drive high client satisfaction and account growth; 
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of the Geomatics market;
  • Communicate Geomatics’ value proposition and portfolio of capabilities to the marketplace;
  • Work closely with Geomatics operational leaders to ensure a team approach to business development planning & execution.
 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 8+ years of business-to-business selling, key account management and consultative selling;
  • 5+ years experience managing professional resources;
  • Demonstrated ability to grow the business as a direct result of your business development expertise and marketing knowledge
  • Experience with design and implementation of business development strategy;
  • Strong understanding of the markets including: Oil & Gas, Transportation, Infrastructure, Mining, Industrial, Power, Land Development, and Buildings;
  • Track record of managing an opportunity forecast / funnel resulting in meeting / exceeding sales targets;
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; ability to collaborate;
  • Ability to learn and effectively communicate, understand, and express WSP’s value proposition;
  • Ability to present information to audiences in a variety of settings;
  • Proficiency in MS Office;
  • Proficiency in CRM programs, or other business development programs is an asset.
