WSP is currently seeking a Senior Project Manager to join our Transportation Planning group, located at our Thornhill office.  This is an opportunity to join an established transportation practice at a senior level, and to participate actively in management of transportation projects at a leading multi-disciplinary firm involved in high profile, innovative and exciting projects across Canada and beyond.  We work with the private and public sectors to develop solutions for all modes of transportation. The Transportation Planning Department offers planning and engineering services for a full spectrum of transportation challenges. These include but are not limited to: Environmental Assessments (EA’s), regional and area transportation studies, site specific transportation assessments, bicycle and pedestrian planning, transit planning, parking studies, traffic signing and travel demand management. Our Transportation Planning staff participate in cutting-edge projects such as complete streets, planning for autonomous vehicles and shared mobility, Vision Zero, design-build and P3 assignments.



  • Manage transportation planning studies, reflecting the range of specialties noted above;
  • Manage and control all aspects of projects to achieve the Client’s goals; manage schedule, budget and quality objectives through the application of formal project management process, techniques and procedures;
  • Develop policies and undertake analyses and studies as required for the planning and design and implementation of transportation, transit and traffic projects;
  • Liaison with clients, project team members and transportation authorities regarding projects;
  • Manage a team of staff;
  • Lead the preparation of proposals;
  • Develop and implement business development strategies;
  • Prepare for and facilitate public and stakeholder consultation; and
  • Other duties as assigned.



  • Post-secondary education in engineering or planning degree;
  • 10 or more years of experience in transportation planning / engineering;
  • Professional Engineer in Ontario (PEO) or Registered Professional Planner from Ontario Professional Planning Institute;
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is an asset;
  • Experience in carrying out transportation planning studies as noted above;
  • Project management / leadership skills, to be able participate actively as part of the management team in a growing and diverse practice;
  • Knowledge of other transportation software and methods (e.g. Synchro, HCS, CCG, VISSIM, EMME, Aimsun, Vistro, CAD, Autoturn) would be an asset; and
  • Strong written and communication skills.
