WSP is seeking an International Tax Director to join our head office team. The chosen candidate will act as an expert for our global tax teams, including overseeing our remote Tax Expertise Centre. He or she will also act as a reference for our internal corporate teams. In a decentralized global structure, the incumbent must demonstrate agility by adapting to different regional realities and the organization's rapid growth. This is a great opportunity for a candidate who wants to exercise his or her ability to influence multiple stakeholders while taking on a tangible role.



  • Collaborate with internal professional team in preparing T1134 information returns, country-by-country reporting, and surplus computations;
  • Transfer pricing – collaborate with internal professional team in preparing transfer pricing documentation, related compliance requirements and bid support including analysis of potential tax risks;
  • Support VP, Global Head of Tax, with tax due diligence, tax modelling and tax structuring advice;
  • Assist with government and financial statement audits;
  • Analyze and document the Canadian tax implications of foreign affiliate transactions;
  • Collaborate with accounting, finance and legal teams to manage cash flows and inter-company loans;
  • Manage regular ad hoc questions and requests from various internal and external teams with regards to international taxation;
  • Lead approved tax planning opportunities including ongoing Canadian and foreign reorganizations;
  • Stay current with changing tax laws that may impact WSP transactions and structures;
  • Other duties as required.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce or Accounting combined with CPA title;
  • Master’s Degree in Tax or completion of the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Program;
  • 15 years + of Canadian tax experience with demonstrated experience with international tax, transfer pricing and tax planning;
  • Experience in accounting firm 7 years +;
  • Experience in industry is an asset;
  • Proven expertise in the Canadian Foreign Affiliate rules;
  • Ability to effectively manage remote resources;
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating across the business to facilitate decision-making;
  • Strong ability to influence others;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and French, including the ability to describe complex tax concepts to various non-tax audiences in a clear and concise manner;
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills;
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment;
  • Resourceful and responsible individual;
  • Self-motivated and proactive with respect to managing workload and professional development;
  • Availability to travel at least 4 times during a year;
  • Availability to work outside normal business hours in order to collaborate with professional teams in different time zones.
