WSP has a national transportation planning practice and a great slate of new and ongoing projects in the Winnipeg office. Our planning teams work closely together across Canada, so if you have a specific interest in transportation, we most likely have a project locally or somewhere else in the WSP network and can get you involved.
WSP is currently seeking an EIT to join our Transportation Planning group in the Transportation department of our Winnipeg office. Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, this position provides the opportunity to expand your transportation knowledge base, gain valuable technical skills used within the industry, to interact with clients and stakeholders, and provide transportation recommendations as part of your everyday work.
Data collection, data assembly, data processing/validation and field investigations for transportation studies, including traffic counts, travel time runs and inventories of roadway elements;
Carrying out traffic and transportation analysis under the direction of Transportation Engineers and Project Managers;
Assisting in the development of project alternatives, analysis and evaluation under the direction of Transportation Engineers and Project Managers;
Helping to prepare high quality project deliverables, including print documentation, graphics and presentations;
Aid in the development of corridor alternatives, analysis and evaluation; and
Other duties as assigned.
Post graduate degree in Civil engineering or equivalent from an accredited university, or urban planning degree with emphasis in Transportation Planning;
A solid understanding of traffic engineering and traffic signal operations;
Experience with transportation related software packages (i.e. Synchro, SIDRA, HCS, Aimsun and VISSIM) would be considered an asset;
A good understanding in AutoCAD and ArcGIS is desirable;
Highly motivated and willing to take on new challenges;
Committed team player;
Excellent planning and organizational skills; and
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
