RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act as a manager and representative of the site and/or works within project scope;
  • Formulate overall strategy and planning for construction;
  • Plan and implement site facilities;
  • Participate, with the engineering group, in revising plans and estimates to ensure they are feasible, at economic cost, with regard to construction;
  • Establish indirect cost estimates for the site and construction supervision and management costs;
  • Together with the Prevention Officer, the Contractors and the Owner’s team, responsible for applying and ensuring the implementation of Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) measures, in connection with the plant/project Prevention Program, and specific site requirements (Emergency Plan, etc.);
  • Together with the Prevention Officer, check workplace health, safety and environment analyses and any other related HSE documents;
  • Participate in review and comment on tender documents where appropriate;
  • Prepare a mobilization and demobilization plan for all staff required for construction. Make recommendations for site staff selection;
  • Propose site organization, schedule tasks and ensure adequate supervision of all contractors, while providing them with necessary support;
  • Planning and coordinating meetings and site visits, including weekly meetings with Contractors and other key stakeholders;
  • Attend other meetings and site visits as required;
  • Responsible for maintaining and managing costs and monitoring the construction schedule;
  • Evaluate changes (extra/additions) and claims, negotiate if necessary and make arrangements within a reasonable timeframe;
  • Approve the provisional and final invoices of contractors;
  • Return equipment and facilities to the owner using the required forms.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or any other training deemed equivalent;
  • 10-15 years of experience (in construction) in construction management;
  • Experience in construction projects at production plants (brownfield, revamp, shut-down, start-up works);
  • Experience as work supervisor or foreman considered a plus;
  • Takes initiative and skilled in leadership, conflict management and working in a multidisciplinary team;
  • Highly skilled at analysis and writing;
  • Excellent command of French;
  • Bilingualism considered a plus.
