THORNHILL

 

 

WSP is currently seeking an Intermediate Municipal Engineer to join our Conveyance Infrastructure department, located at our Thornhill office.  Reporting to the Manager of Conveyance Infrastructure this position will be responsible for the execution of the planning, preliminary and detailed design of multi-million dollar water/wastewater and other infrastructure conveyance projects, such as large diameter municipal water mains and sewers (sanitary and storm).

Building upon our significant Conveyance Experience, you will be working as a member of our team, your primary focus will be executing our design and construction projects and programs and working with our team to successfully deliver our significant conveyance portfolio of projects. Responsible for the design of new and/or reconstruction of linear water and wastewater projects as well as the preparation of construction specifications, servicing reports, cost estimates, work programs, project budgets, proposals and other administrative duties. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Execute the design of public sector municipal servicing projects under the direction of one of our Principals;
  • Actively participate in the design and provide direction to junior design team and technologists throughout the design process;
  • Liaise with the various municipal/utility/approval agencies, and client communications
  • Be aware of project budgets, project schedules;
  • Work in with multi-disciplinary project team to undertake major water/wastewater conveyance projects;
  • Apply proven design experience including conceptual, preliminary and detailed designs;
  • Project execution for municipal infrastructure projects including: wastewater facility civil works, forcemains, storm sewers, sanitary sewers, watermains, and feeder mains;
  • Mentor and coach a team of junior engineers and technologists;
  • Contribute to RFP, Bid and Proposal documents
  • Other duties as assigned.
 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5 to 10 years of municipal infrastructure experience for Public Sector projects in Southern Ontario;
  • Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering;
  • Professional Engineer designation preferably in Ontario;
  • CAPM or PMP Certification is an asset
  • Project Management experience on municipal water and sewer projects is an asset;
  • Knowledge and experience with Condition Assessments, Trenchless Technologies, and pipeline rehabilitation
  • Familiarity with planning/approval process;
  • Experience with road and intersection design would be an asset;
  • Knowledge and application of Ontario Environmental standards and guidelines, and
  • Familiarity with local planning/approval processes.
