NORTH VANCOUVER

WSP is currently seeking a motivated Project Manager in our North Vancouver Infrastructure Management & Planning team.  Reporting to the Director Infrastructure Planning, the Project Manager will lead and facilitate complex and multidisciplinary planning and engineering studies for water infrastructure. This position will be responsible to work on projects for public and private clients, leading major municipal water, wastewater, drainage and flood management projects including planning, feasibility studies, hydraulic modelling, conceptual designs, preliminary design/constructability assessments.  As a key member of the team you will deal directly with clients and approval agencies.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the delivery of master planning projects from inception to handover, to the required budget and deadlines;
  • Take a leadership role in the expansion of business opportunities and execution of major water, wastewater, drainage and flood management infrastructure planning projects;
  • Provides project management and strategic advice for all projects, activities and assignments to deliver Infrastructure Planning projects;
  • Responsible for supporting management and Project Managers to ensure the successful delivery of robustly defined technical solutions;
  • Manage and deliver complex infrastructure planning, design and asset management solutions to customers - this includes report and proposal writing, business development, client liaison, and project management;
  • Provide guidance and QA/QC on all hydraulic modelling, calculations, and technical reports for municipal infrastructure, masterplans, hydraulic modelling and feasibility studies;
  • Ensuring effective teamwork and communication, high standards of work quality and organizational performance and continuous learning;
  • Lead, develop and empower a diverse group of professionals and technical support staff;
  • Manage personal workloads effectively to achieve objectives within time constraints; and
  • Assist in developing and delivery of RFQ/RFP for infrastructure planning projects.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Use of GIS;
  • Use of computers and hydraulic models related to planning of water and wastewater systems;
  • Experience in municipal infrastructure and/or water resources engineering;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skill;
  • Committed team player and highly self-motivated;
  • Previous success in customer services, client management and proposal/report writing;
  • Strong communication (written and verbal), interpersonal and teamwork skills. Technical writing skills needed to support development of technical reports, tools, support documents, and training materials;
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, plan, organize, prioritize and implement projects in a timely manner;
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a dynamic project environment with changing priorities; and
  • Knowledge of water infrastructure Asset Management would be advantageous.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • An undergraduate degree in civil engineering from an accredited university;
  • Professional Engineer designation with minimum 8+ years of water infrastructure planning with emphasis on water, wastewater, drainage and flood management projects; and
  • Professional Engineer Professional Engineering designation in the British Columbia is required.
