WSP is currently seeking a Project Engineer, Coastal Engineering to join our Ports, Marine and Coastal department, located at our Thornhill office.



  • Performing wave transformation, hydrodynamic and sediment transport studies using different numerical models (DELFT-3D, SWAN, TELEMAC 2D, MIKE 21) to characterize the coastal processes, such as currents, waves (propagation and agitation) and sediment dynamic;

  • Performing wave hindcasting, statistical analysis of Met-Ocean data and hydraulic calculations, including computer programming (MATLAB, FORTRAN);

  • Conducting and supporting design of coastal structures as part of shoreline stabilization studies (rock revetment, seawall, beach nourishment, jetties, etc.) and maritime works (wharves, marina, breakwater, navigation channel, dredging);

  • Participating in the preparation of drawings and specifications and supervising the work of technicians and drafters;

  • Conducting water quality modeling as part of coastal and marine environmental studies (effluent dilution modeling, marine habitats);

  • Conducting and supporting coastal flood and erosion risk assessment, including coastal hazards and resiliency analysis;

  • Preparing technical reports and memos;

  • Coordinating, supporting, and participating in field surveys including planning and measurement protocol (in-situ data collection);

  • Participating in the proposal preparation;

  • Other duties as assigned/required.


  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering;

  • Master degree in coastal engineering, maritime hydraulics or oceanography (or equivalent) is considered an asset;

  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in coastal engineering, maritime hydraulics or oceanography (or equivalent);

  • Ability to work independently and in a multidisciplinary team environment and have project management skills;

  • Experience in engineering consulting is considered an asset;

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken;
  • Bilingual (english, french) is considered an asset;
