What we’re looking for:
As Immersion’s Patent Attorney, you will participate in and support all patent and intellectual property related matters for Immersion with an emphasis on its patent portfolio including prosecution, licensing, and enforcement.
What you’ll do:
Prepare, prosecute U.S. and International patent applications in-house and with outside counsel
Review invention disclosure, portfolio analyses; work with technical patent liaisons, inventors, and patent review committee
Assist with Immersion’s participation in USPTO technology fairs and technology tutorials
Work with research, software and engineering departments, including proactive development of IP strategies, invention disclosure reviews, and client counseling
Review sales, promotional materials and programs in light of IP issues
Assist in assessment of IP issues, provide timely counsel on IP issues
Assist in developing and implementing policies and procedures relating to IP
Possess an in-depth understanding of the rules, regulations and procedures of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in pre and post grant procedures.
Knowledge of IP law and practice, including current judicial decisions and administrative rule changes and implementations.
Experience with litigation support, including developing and implementing IP strategies, and conducting infringement or freedom to operate investigations and initial analyses desirable but not required
Experience with agreements involving technology and intellectual property matters, including drafting intellectual property agreements or clauses when requested desirable but not required
This opening requires an individual with excellent analysis, evaluation, oral and written communications skills.

J.D. from an accredited law school
Admitted to practice before the USPTO or Canadian Patent Office
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Sciences, Electrical Engineering or other technical degree with demonstrated ability to draft software and hardware related patent applications
Prefer 5 years’ experience with a major law firm or corporation analyzing and evaluating invention disclosures; preparing, filing and prosecuting applications for patents on an international basis; and developing technical and legal evidence to demonstrate the novelty and patentability of a device, design or process.
