IHRC, Inc. provides scientific, information management, management consulting, bioinformatics, and administrative program support to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other Federal and private sector clients. The successful candidate will be a full-time employee of IHRC, Inc., and will be assigned to the FDA Office of Laboratory Safety, located at 10903 New Hampshire Ave, Silver Spring, MD 20993 to provide communications support services. This position is contingent upon contract award.
SCOPE OF WORK
The Communications Specialist II will provide health communications support services.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Write and edit technical and commercial documentation. Ensure content meets appropriate language grammatical standards and sentence structure requirements.
Participate in document review process, including draft review, review comments, comment resolution, draft updating, and final document development.
Lead document development effort from the initial inception of the document to the publication of the final product.
Develop health communications. This will require communications and outreach to engage with scientific and technical staff.
Develop, write, and edit material for reports, manuals, briefs, proposals, instruction books, catalogs, and related technical and administrative publications.
Develop strategic communications plans, conduct audience research and segmentation, and implement outreach campaigns.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Communications, Public Health, etc.) from an accredited academic institution required.
Minimum 5 years of prior experience as a communications specialist.
Extensive background in writing and editing of technical and commercial documentation. Complete understanding of language grammatical standards as well as sentence structure requirements for this type of writing.
Familiarity with the document review process, including draft review, review comments, comment resolution, draft updating, and final document development.
Ability to lead a document development effort from the initial inception of the document to the publication of the final product.
Expertise in developing health communications and an understanding of the communications and outreach activities needed to engage with scientific and technical staff.
Expertise and general background developing, writing, and editing material for reports, manuals, briefs, proposals, instruction books, catalogs, and related technical and administrative publications.
Experience developing strategic communications plans, conducting audience research and segmentation, and implementing outreach campaigns.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong writing skills and demonstrated experience in content development are essential.Ability to write content in plain language.
Strong problem-solving skills along with outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail.
Energetic team presence with an eagerness to learn and collaborate with other members of the team.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize competing demands in a fast-paced environment.
Immunizations may be required.
The candidate must possess excellent oral and written communication skills in English
Must be United States citizen or permanent resident or have authorization for employment in the United States
