Meruelo Media is currently seeking an energetic, highly confident, hardworking, and self-motivated individual to join us as the Direct Sales Manager. In this capacity, the RSM will work with the local sales staff across all MM brands to solicit and cultivate direct business, with a likely emphasis on small and medium sized businesses. Work will span multiple accounts, so multitasking and organization are a must. 

We’re looking for an energetic coach with boundless energy and enthusiasm.  You should have the ability to motivate and build confidence in others.  A demonstrated track record in securing and managing a book of direct business is crucial.  A love of cold calling is helpful; discipline in cold calling is essential.  You should love immediate gratification; retail business operates at a faster pace than other categories.

The focus will be on building on an already strong base of direct business across the Meruelo Media properties. This is a player/coach role, with dotted line management responsibilities.  You will be responsible for increasing revenue by coaching existing talent and providing expertise with direct business.  In addition, you will be responsible for working with existing sales management in hiring and training direct sellers.

The ideal candidate will increase direct revenue and market share across all Meruelo Media brands.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Experience cultivating new direct clients
  • Experience creating and selling campaigns through solution based sales programs
  • Evidence of ability to prospect ideal customers, secure appointments and close business.
  • Demonstrated ability to think quickly and overcome objections quickly.
  • Ability to influence members of the local sales staff by winning their support; effectively understanding the motivators of each staff member; exercising effective leadership characteristics
  • Track record of strong problem solving skills, high courage, business acumen, highly motivated to win and tireless work intensity.


  • Strong oral and written communication skills required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required. College degree preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and state mandated automobile insurance required.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and carry out responsibilities under general supervision
  • Ability to organize workload for effective implementation
  • Strong customer and results orientation
