Reports to:       Director, Business Development
Status:              Full-time, Exempt

Job Summary: NTC is seeking a dynamic Associate, Business Development who is committed to NTC’s mission to disrupt the predictability of educational inequities for systemically underserved students, from preschool through high school, by accelerating educator effectiveness.

The Associate, Business Development is a role that helps leaders across the organization secure fee for service work that will allow the organization to advance its strategic plan while remaining financially sustainable. This role oversees data and research needs related to business development, helping our staff to further NTC’s mission, vision, and strategic drivers. The position requires a diverse skill set to connect the strategy dots across departments, dive into the minute details of RFP and/or proposal requirements, and engage in strategic, cross-functional projects such as market research, literature reviews, and landscape analyses.

What You Bring:

  • You are committed to disrupting patterns of inequity and oppression. You strive to be a fully self-actualized leader. You address issues of race, class, and privilege because equity leads to better results for everyone, most importantly teachers and students.
  • You achieve quick wins while always keeping the long game in mind. You are energized by doing the tough work today while also keeping your eye on the ball five years from now because when you do, you ask bigger, more important questions and deliver better short-term success.
  • You have a “gentle pressure, relentlessly applied” mantra: At the end of the day, what ultimately helps NTC meet our fee for service revenue goals is meeting deadlines and ensuring every T is crossed and I, dotted. You can anticipate what needs to get done today to meet deadlines four weeks from now, and you help mobilize people and teams at all levels to get it all done with high-quality.
  • You communicate complex information to diverse audiences. You are the front-line for potential clients, authentically listening to their needs and connecting them to the right information and experts to explore opportunities for partnership. You are able to support the writing for proposals and competitive bids, as well as other written deliverables that communicate concisely to internal and external audiences.
  • You nerd out on data and research. You are a strong strategic thinker with the ability to understand and translate complex data. Whether it’s cleaning up a messy data set or researching regional policies and funding streams - you enjoy getting into the weeds and pulling out the key information that will allow leaders across the organization to make informed decisions.
  • You live and breathe Salesforce. This CRM tool is our one-stop shop to track fee for service engagement, pipeline opportunities, and proposals. You are committed to using Salesforce to input, track, and guide our interactions with every opportunity. You also will be a key player ensuring the data entered in Salesforce is accurate and aligned to information in other databases such as Netsuite.

What You’ll Do:

  • Field new business inquiries - responding to initial inquiries and setting up new business calls with relevant Business Development and/or Program Delivery staff
  • Pull reports from Salesforce and conduct analyses, sharing key trends/highlights and preparing data requests for funders as needed
  • Manage ongoing Salesforce data audits and cleaning up entries as needed
  • Conduct regional landscape analyses, providing Business Development and Program Delivery staff with key data, contacts, and trends to be aware of
  • Manage NTC’s conference strategy and support conference preparation, as needed
  • Keep Business Development folders and materials organized and up-to-date
  • Support RFP and/or proposal writing
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 2+ years of professional experience requiring external written communication, strong analytical skills, and leadership of complex, group-based projects with concrete deliverables
