Contractor Summary


Whitman-Walker Health engages thousands of LGBTQ people through various social media platforms. This position will collaborate with our Communications and Community Health departments to advance online presence and drive useful engagement with priority populations. Tasked with monitoring social media trends and conversations, and assisting in work that ensures the interests, purpose and mission of WWH are clearly articulated in all internal and external communications including digital media and website channels.
Primary Essential Duties


 Assist with advertising and social media campaigns, including drafting copy and proofreading it for accuracy and adherence to purpose and mission.
 Engage and form relationships with members, supporters, allies and partners across our social media platforms with a focus on the greater Washington, DC, public health community.
 Develop reports and narratives about WWH’s digital presence to share internally
 Develop and implement social media brand strategies, public health campaigns to build brand and organizational awareness
 Research proactive and reactive social media opportunities.
 Support in the recruitment and onboarding of social media influencers that align with WWH’s mission
 Develop HIV prevention and educational content to increase social media engagement with community members
 Maintain and grow WWH social media accounts, including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
 Monitor social media progress using web analytic tools
 Incorporate optimization strategies, analyze data, and research best ways to increase traffic to WWH’s social media accounts and website through call-to-actions.
 Monitor and analyze relevant community and social media engagement opportunities to assist with communications planning.
 Maintain comprehensive social media profiles list that support engagement with WWH content.
 Assist with development of visuals for WWH collateral materials.
 Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Talents Required
 Minimum of 2-5 years experience of running social media accounts for progressive organizations and advocacy groups.
 Excellent writing skills and demonstrated experience creating content for Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram.
 Excellent written and oral communication skills.
 Follows and understands social media trends and news
 Knowledge of HIV/AIDS and other issues impacting the LGBT community
 Strong strategic, critical thinking and analysis skills.
 Strong organizational skills and demonstrated attention to detail.
 Knowledge of software including Canva and Adobe Creative Cloud (specifically InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator) preferred.
 Graphic design experience highly preferred, but not required.
