Participates in the administration and implementation of research programs at the health center, working directly with study participants and ensuring that study protocols are followed accurately. Compiles necessary records and performs data entry and other administrative tasks for the trials.
Primary Essential Duties
Assists with recruiting and enrollment of new clients into the various trial programs at Whitman-Walker, conducting basic interviews and facilitating completion of pre-study questionnaires.
Knowledge, Skills, and Talents Required
Knowledge of contemporary HIV/AIDS or public health, especially with regard to clinical trials and cohortstudies
Knowledge of general protocols for clinical research, specifically as relates to ethical standards forthe conduct of human subjectsresearch
Highly developed oral and written communication skills, including the ability to function efficientlyas part of a multidisciplinary team in facilitating the clinical trialprograms.
Ability to conduct sensitive, empathetic interviews that respect the dignity and diversity ofclients.
Ability to prepare accurate, concise and comprehensivereports.
Ability to maintain client records and information in an accurate, timely and confidentialmanner.
Excellent organizational skills, including proficiency in use of computer word processing and data entry programs and the ability to handle multiple taskssimultaneously.
Education and Experience Required
Must have Bachelor’s Degree in science or health related field (biology, research, etc.) or at least four years of direct medical care and/or clinical researchexperience.
At least one year of research or health care experiencerequired.
Experience working with an ethnically, culturally and racially diverse work staff preferred; ability to work harmoniously with diverse groups of individualsrequired.
Working conditions for this position are normal for an office environment. Individual may be required to work evenings and / or weekends and organization events.
Lifting: No more than 20 lbs. andinfrequently.
Movement: Standing and sitting for longperiods.
Visual: Long periods oncomputer.
Concentration: Extended periods of engagement with computer systems where concentration is key to accuracy in data entry. Intermittent periods of engagement with a telephone system to respond to inquiries where concentration is key to taskperformance.
Communication: Direct and indirect communication. Written and verbalcompetency.
