Technatomy is looking for a mid-level test engineer with both manual and test automation experience.  This individual will be a member of our Testing Center of Excellence supporting both internal and client facing projects with remote team members distributed across the US. 

Minimum Requirements:

  • BS in computer science, electronics engineering or other engineering or technical discipline.  8 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education
  • 3-5 years of software testing experience
  • 1-3 years of experience using test automation tools
  • Understanding of software testing practices at an enterprise level


POSITION DESCRIPTION (Duties and Responsibilities):

  • Defines and documents test cases / scripts, test data, and test execution results based upon application design documents and industry standards
  • Creates automated test script based on our enterprise automation framework model.  Scripts will be written in Java and resemble manual test scripts.
  • Performs both manual and automated functional and system integration testing for assigned applications
  • Understands the functional design of software products / suites being tested and their underlying technologies to facilitate authoring test cases, diagnosing system issues, and ensuring that tests are executed accurately
  • Participates in test case / script peer reviews for assigned testing tasks
  • Utilizes enterprise testing tools for test case / script management, defect management, and metric reporting
  • Provides subject matter expertise in one or more applications types
  • Provide lessons learned and process improvement suggestions to help make the development / testing process more effective



Candidate must be able to demonstrate expertise in the following areas:


  • 3-5 years of software testing experience
  • 1-3 years of experience using test automation tools such as Rational Functional Tester, Selenium, and/or Test Complete
  • Experience with developing test cases / scripts from functional design documents and executing test scripts within scheduled time frames
  • GUI and middle-tier application testing experience
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex problems across multiple systems
  • Ability to work cooperatively as a part of a virtual, professional team that is distributed across geographies and time zones
  • Candidates must be permanent residents of the US and MUST be able to obtain and maintain a sponsor required clearance and background investigation (DoD Secret and a Tier-4 Public Trust Background Investigation.   Failure to obtain or maintain will result in loss of position
  • Must be able to work with limited oversight from manager, work independently, use discretion on assignments and make independent decisions
  • Strong oral and written communication skills




Has Experience With:

  • Direct experience testing Government software applications
  • Solid understanding of enterprise test tools such as RQM, RTC and/or ALM
  • Knowledge of agile software development lifecycles to include SCRUM and SAFe
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact with customers and team members

Education (Minimum Requirements):

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, electronics engineering or other engineering or technical discipline is required.  8 years of additional relevant experience may be considered as a substitute for education requirements.
