SUMMARY OF PROGRAM/PROJECT

The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Program Executive Office (PEO), J62, Enterprise Application Support mission requires providing consolidated application support and technical services to Information Technology (IT) programs and projects across the DLA IT Enterprise.

This consolidated application support includes, but is not limited to, application database

administration, application-level web system administration, and technical support for up to an estimated 300 DLA Applications/Systems hosted in production, test, development, and/or staging environments hosted in government or commercial cloud and on-premise environments.

 

POSITION DESCRIPTION (Duties and Responsibilities):

Candidate(s) shall be an experienced Database Administrator providing all activities related to the administration of computerized databases including loading and analyzing schemas, scripts and other data sources; conducting debugging, performance tuning and optimization; setup and maintenance of multiple database environments; application database upgrades and patching; ticket troubleshooting; developing data dictionaries, tables and other configuration design features; and support to IA, CERT and infrastructure teams.  Emphasis will be on providing application database administration support and/or middleware administration support of multiple database instances.  The position requires senior level experience with one or more of Oracle, MS SQL Server and DB2 RDBMS in hosted on Windows/Linux/UNIX servers. The successful candidate(s) will also participate in new installations and configurations supporting Cloud migration projects.  For application middleware administration, support will be provided for new and existing Oracle Fusion Middleware components including Weblogic Server, Identity Management, BI Publisher, and Access Manager; and also for Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM).

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS - REQUIRED:

Candidate must be able to demonstrate experience and expertise in the following areas:

  • Experience in at least two projects in a large organization responsible for administering, operating, maintaining, and securing a large-scale computer database

  • Project long-rangerequirements for database administration and design

  • Design, create, and maintain databases

  • Conduct quality control and auditing of databases to ensure accurate and appropriate use of data.

  • Advise users on access to various client/server databases

  • Design, implement, and maintain complex databases with respect to access methods, access time, device allocation, validation checks, organization, protection and security, documentation, JCL and statistical methods

  • Apply knowledge and experience with database technologies, development methodologies, and front-end /backend programming languages (e.g., SQL)

  • Perform database programming and supports systems design including maintenance of database dictionaries, overall monitoring of standards and procedures, file design and storage, and integration of systems through database design

  • Ability to provide occasional support for after hours database maintenance and administration activities

  • Excellent and proactive interpersonal and communication skills

  • Self-motivated, team player with attention to detail

  • Ability to follow schedule and meet deadlines

     

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS - DESIRED:

  • Experience with DoD / DLA software lifecycle sustainment

  • Experience with Remedy

  • Experience in configuration, change and release management disciplines

  • Experience with Oracle Fusion Middleware and Oracle Enterprise Manager for application middleware administration positions

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Five (5) years of progressive experience of database query languages such as Oracle, PL SQL, SQL Server, and MS Access

  • Three (3) years of hands-on experience and expertise in Relational Database Management Systems, specifically Oracle, MS SQL and/or DB2

  • Capability to work on various operating systems and additional programming languages

  • Experience in at least two projects in a large organization responsible for administering, operating, maintaining and securing a large-scale computer database.

  • At least 2 years of experience in supporting DoD Program Acquisition Category (ACAT) I Level and ACAT III Level IT Development Programs

  • Bachelor’s Degree desired

 

CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Required:  Baseline certification (CompTIA Security+ or higher); and relevant Computing Environment (CE) certification meeting Information Assurance Technical  Level II (IAT II) IAW DoD 8570.01-M, Information Assurance (IA) Workforce Improvement Program

    OCA DBA, IBM SD RPT, OCP, OCM, GSOC, DB2, MCITP DBD, MCM/MCA: SQL Server, MCSA:DP, MCSM:DP or M2012 SQL

  • Desired:  ACAT certification

    DoD Secret

  • U.S. Citizenship required

 

WORK LOCATION:

  • Fairfax, VA corporate office (but will can work remote as long as you can come in for meetings)
