Creative Director

Location: Vista, CA
Department: Marketing


Essential Functions:

  • Oversee the conceptual and stylistic direction, design, branding, and the coordination of production artists, photographers, illustrators, prepress technicians, printers, and vendors.

  • Manage the artistic development of brand, marketing and promotional materials, including print, collateral, website/digital, packaging design, advertising layout, photo styling and internal and external corporate publications.

  • Partner with CEO and VP of Marketing to bring the brand vision to life through all touch points internally and externally.

  • Create compelling visual imagery that directly relays key messaging to the target audience.

  • Manage and develop in-house Creative team.

  • Review and approve art and copy developed by the team, ensuring deliverables effectively address established goals.

  • Improve quality and efficiency of Creative department by evaluating, re-designing, and implementing processes as needed.

  • Manage own and team’s projects, working within budget and scheduling requirements.

  • Propose creative concepts and layouts for potential and new projects.

  • Lead brainstorming/creative sessions to generate ideas.

  • Prepare proofs for approvals and make corrections and modifications as requested.

  • Maintain graphic consistency across all deliverables.

  • Attend photo shoots and press checks to ensure that the products needed are obtained.

  • Keep current with graphic and advertising trends.

  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks, etc.

  • Other duties as assigned by management.


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in graphic design with 12+ years’ experience in creative/art direction.

  • An intimate understanding of design, copy and web practices/guidelines

  • Experience with a variety of software; including Photoshop, InDesign, Flash, etc.

  • Passionate about branding, storytelling, and producing content to drive client engagement

  • Knowledge in video editing software.

  • Experience in digital design, packaging design, photoshoot and video production.

  • Excellent leadership and communication skills

  • A strong understanding of brand development and multi-channel marketing concepts

  • Comfort interfacing with internal and external clients

  • Hands-on experience in creative process, marketing, graphic design and brand development.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once and meet deadlines.

  • Must possess strategy development, project management, problem-solving and change management skills.

  • Ability to build positive working relationships, both internally and externally.

  • Must be able to effectively present information and negotiate with all levels of the organization.
