Sr Scientist (Chemistry/Biochemistry)

Summary:

This position is for a self-motivated Scientist with strong technical background and extensive hands-on experience in developing novel chemistry/biochemistry assays. The candidate will contribute his/her chemistry/biochemistry expertise and leadership to a cross-disciplinary team between biochemistry, instrument and software, to develop and implement new chemistry assays to our new technology platform. 

The candidate should be able to design and execute experiments independently, perform troubleshooting, communicate with team players effectively, and interpret and document results in a timely fashion.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Drawing from experience in chemistry, molecular biology, and/or materials science, the candidate will design and execute hands-on experiments to develop novel chemistry/biology assays and reagent kits for early product research.

  • Working in a cross-disciplinary team between biochemistry, microfluidics and data analysis, to implement novel chemistry assays to the new technology platform and perform troubleshooting.

  • Planning and execution of experiments, in-depth analysis, reporting of these results through documentation and presentations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • PhD degree in Chemistry, Molecular and Cellular Biology, Material Science or related field, o r Master/ Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences with a minimum of 5 years of benchtop wet chemistry and biology experiences.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot failures through experimental design and execution
  • Strong communication and organizational skills to manage multidisciplinary projects
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to plan and execute priorities and timelines

 

Required experience:

  • Chemistry and Molecular Biology experience including spectroscopy, ELISA, nucleic acid and protein quantification, microscopy, gel electrophoresis, PCR, enzyme and antibody reagent handling, etc.

  • Experience with  magnetic beads manufacturing and modification, including surface coating and functionalization  will be a plus.
