Sr. Process Engineer 

Job Summary:

EGI, a subsidiary of BGI Group, is seeking a talented, driven and experienced individual to join the Process Integration and Development team working on next generation devices. The candidate needs to have a passion for EGI’s technology and mission to bring genomic sequencing technology to medical and clinical applications. The role is to be the lead Sr. Process Engineer to drive key experiments while utilizing software skills to organize and analyze process data. The candidate will participate in complex process development projects ranging from developing novel unit processes, process integration schemes to solving yield issues and qualify processes for a full product release. The successful individual should also be well-versed in statistical data analysis and software scripting skills and leverage them to facilitate solving complex process and integration problems. In addition, some travel is expected depending on business and project needs per EGI’s product development roadmap.

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Closely work with international development teams to plan experiments and improve integrated device processes through properly constructed DOE’s
  • Organize and collect data relevant to solving complex integration issues and leverage statistical software tools to analyze them.
  • Develop custom software tools to aid in data collection and database construction, as well as scripts to facilitate analysis of process and experimental data
  • Ability to statistically analyze results to determine root causes of process issues and device failures
  • Effectively summarize and present findings to the team and provide conclusions and recommendations for next steps
  • Support manufacturing teams and develop software tools for monitoring process control parameters for manufacturability and yield analysis
  • Use software algorithms to analyze and process optically captured images to determine intensities, SNR, etc, and synthesize statistical summaries of image information on a pixel level

Minimum Qualifications:    

  • 3-5 years of industry experience in R&D and/or Manufacturing environments, with a minimum MS or equivalent experience in Computer Science/Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Physics or related scientific and engineering disciplines.
  • Proficiency with JMP or other statistical packages, SQL or other database management software, and programming languages like C++, Python, Matlab or R.
  • Demonstrated experience in one of the following areas: Consumer electronic/opto-electronic CMOS devices, Integrated Optics, CMOS imagers, MEMS products, Bio-Medical Devices, or Microfluidic systems.  
  • Familiarity with strategies and methods for process development and qualification of low and high volume environments for consumer or medical applications.
  • Ability to travel 10-20% of their time
  • Excellent presentation, verbal and written communication skills.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Not required but Mandarin language skills a plus
